There is a second villain there, the one holding the club. He hits Jack from behind, exploding his head. As Casey has said, it'll make perfect sense with words and color.....stupid colorist. _________________ Christopher Penzenik - Artist, writer, Lost Boy |

Just look at Casey's images . . .
And then follow along with the script from the PREVIEW!!!
It's a new gimmick I came up with for Casey -- Marvel will be doing it soon.
Sell people a book with no words . . . then sell them the words with no art . . .
You have to buy both to get the full story!
Then, we put out a "Director's Cut" . . .

| Words with no pictures I can handle, but pictures with no words just makes me paranoid that I'm not getting it. |

Hi!
For those who do not know the Oz books very well I thought I would give a little background on the characters potrayed in the b & w preview.
The grinning woman with the eye-patch is none other than the Wicked Witch of the West. She is conversing with Roquart/Ruggedo the Nome King, who is an old enemy of Dorothy and Oz.
The second Nome I believe is Kaliko, the Nome King's second in command.
The Wicked Witch of the West has somehow taken possesion of the Magic Belt, perhaps the most powewrful weapon in Oz other then the Silver Shoes (ruby slippers) worn previously by Dorothy. The Nome King was the first person to wear the Magic Belt. It was taken from him by Dorothy and Ozma, the Ruler of Oz.
The Oz character "murdered" by the Nomes is Jack Pumpkinhead. He was first introduced in "The Marvelous Land Of Oz" (the second Oz book).
When Jack's head spoils (or in this case is smashed) he picks a new one from his pumpkin patch and replaces his previous head. Therefore he may not be "dead". Ozma is the one who made Jack, so needless to say she may not like what has transpired. Of course, that is assuming she can do anything about it.
The umbrella the West Witch hands the Nome King is the umbrella she carried in the first Oz book, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." Its powers were never fully revealed, but it should be assumed it has some sort of magic ability. Also, I am sure she carried it to protect her from water, since she melts when she is brought in contact with water.
As a seasoned Oz fan I can tell that the artist has paid very close attention to the Oz books art by W.W. Denslow and John R. Neill, as well as to Frank Baum's written word. This leads me to believe that this story will be top-notch and well worth the price.
I hope this helps! Take care:) _________________ OCDinOz |
